Verses about The fact that Jews broke Allahs Covenant

And ask them about the town that was by the sea - when they transgressed in [the matter of] the sabbath - when their fish came to them openly on their sabbath day, and the day they had no sabbath they did not come to them. Thus did We give them trial because they were defiantly disobedient.

So when they were insolent about that which they had been forbidden, We said to them, ‘ Be apes, despised.’

And there followed them successors who inherited the Scripture [while] taking the commodities of this lower life and saying, ‘ It will be forgiven for us.’ And if an offer like it comes to them, they will [again] take it. Was not the covenant of the Scripture taken from them that they would not say about Allah except the truth, and they studied what was in it? And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah, so will you not use reason?

[Say], ‘ Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book explained in detail?’ And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.

And you had already known about those who transgressed among you concerning the sabbath, and We said to them, ‘ Be apes, despised.’

Do you covet [the hope, O believers], that they would believe for you while a party of them used to hear the words of Allah and then distort the Torah after they had understood it while they were knowing?

So woe to those who write the ‘ scripture’ with their own hands, then say, ‘ This is from Allah,’ in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.

And [recall] when We took your covenant, [saying], ‘ Do not shed each other’s blood or evict one another from your homes.’ Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing.

And when it is said to them, ‘ Believe in what Allah has revealed,’ they say, ‘ We believe [only] in what was revealed to us.’ And they disbelieve in what came after it, while it is the truth confirming that which is with them. Say, ‘ Then why did you kill the prophets of Allah before, if you are [indeed] believers?’

Do you not consider, [O Muhammad], those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They are invited to the Scripture of Allah that it should arbitrate between them; then a party of them turns away, and they are refusing.

And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, ‘ This is from Allah,’ but it is not from Allah. And they speak untruth about Allah while they know.

Among the Jews are those who distort words from their [proper] usages and say, ‘ We hear and disobey’ and ‘ Hear but be not heard’ and ‘ Ra’ina,’ twisting their tongues and defaming the religion. And if they had said [instead], ‘ We hear and obey’ and ‘ Wait for us [to understand],’ it would have been better for them and more suitable. But Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.

And We raised over them the mount for [refusal of] their covenant; and We said to them, ‘ Enter the gate bowing humbly’ , and We said to them, ‘ Do not transgress on the sabbath’ , and We took from them a solemn covenant.

And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people’s wealth unjustly. And we have prepared for the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.

The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah and then did not take it on is like that of a donkey who carries volumes [of books]. Wretched is the example of the people who deny the signs of Allah. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

[They are] avid listeners to falsehood, devourers of [what is] unlawful. So if they come to you, [O Muhammad], judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them - never will they harm you at all. And if you judge, judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.

And you see many of them hastening into sin and aggression and the devouring of [what is] unlawful. How wretched is what they have been doing.
