Verses about truthfulness

Or do they have partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they should be truthful.

As for he who gives and fears Allah

And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed.

They said, ‘ Have you come to us that we should worship Allah alone and leave what our fathers have worshipped? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful.’

[Who is] obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel.’

Indeed, those you [polytheists] call upon besides Allah are servants like you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you should be truthful.

And they say, ‘ When is this promise, if you should be truthful?’

And that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of the Book is the truth, confirming what was before it. Indeed, Allah, of His servants, is Acquainted and Seeing.

And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor.

And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.

And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.

Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

[Pharaoh] said, ‘ Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful.’

And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.

You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful.’

So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful.’

[Solomon] said, ‘ We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars.

They said, ‘ Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, ‘We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful.’ ‘

Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Say, ‘ Produce your proof, if you should be truthful.’

And they say, ‘ When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?’

Say, ‘ Then bring a scripture from Allah which is more guiding than either of them that I may follow it, if you should be truthful.’

And say, ‘ My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority.’

Or do they say [about the Prophet], ‘ He invented it?’ Say, ‘ Then bring forth a surah like it and call upon [for assistance] whomever you can besides Allah, if you should be truthful.’

And they say, ‘ When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful?’

Or do they say, ‘ He invented it’ ? Say, ‘ Then bring ten surahs like it that have been invented and call upon [for assistance] whomever you can besides Allah, if you should be truthful.’

They said, ‘ O Noah, you have disputed us and been frequent in dispute of us. So bring us what you threaten us, if you should be of the truthful.’

They said, ‘ O our father, indeed we went racing each other and left Joseph with our possessions, and a wolf ate him. But you would not believe us, even if we were truthful.’

[Joseph] said, ‘ It was she who sought to seduce me.’ And a witness from her family testified. ‘ If his shirt is torn from the front, then she has told the truth, and he is of the liars.

[He said], ‘ Joseph, O man of truth, explain to us about seven fat cows eaten by seven [that were] lean, and seven green spikes [of grain] and others [that were] dry - that I may return to the people; perhaps they will know [about you].’

Said [the king to the women], ‘ What was your condition when you sought to seduce Joseph?’ They said, ‘ Perfect is Allah! We know about him no evil.’ The wife of al-‘Azeez said, ‘ Now the truth has become evident. It was I who sought to seduce him, and indeed, he is of the truthful.

And ask the city in which we were and the caravan in which we came - and indeed, we are truthful,’

Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?’

Say, ‘ Have you considered: if there came to you the punishment of Allah or there came to you the Hour - is it other than Allah you would invoke, if you should be truthful?’

And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers.

[They are] eight mates - of the sheep, two and of the goats, two. Say, ‘ Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females or that which the wombs of the two females contain? Inform me with knowledge, if you should be truthful.’

Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.

Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.

And they say, ‘ When is this promise, if you should be truthful?’

And the one who has brought the truth and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous.

And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, ‘ Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, ‘My Lord is Allah’ while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, there will strike you some of what he promises you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar.

Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful.’

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, their argument is only that they say, ‘ Bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful.’

They said, ‘ Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful.’

They said, ‘ O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path.

And they say, ‘ When is this promise, if you should be truthful?’

And they say, ‘ When will be this conquest, if you should be truthful?’

Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.

And they say, ‘ When is this promise, if you should be truthful?’

But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.

Indeed, you approach men and obstruct the road and commit in your meetings [every] evil.’ And the answer of his people was not but they said, ‘ Bring us the punishment of Allah, if you should be of the truthful.’

And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant [Muhammad], then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful.

And He taught Adam the names - all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, ‘ Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful.’

And believe in what I have sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me.

And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming that which was with them - although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved - but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be upon the disbelievers.

And when it is said to them, ‘ Believe in what Allah has revealed,’ they say, ‘ We believe [only] in what was revealed to us.’ And they disbelieve in what came after it, while it is the truth confirming that which is with them. Say, ‘ Then why did you kill the prophets of Allah before, if you are [indeed] believers?’

Say, [O Muhammad], ‘ If the home of the Hereafter with Allah is for you alone and not the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful.

Say, ‘ Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought the Qur’an down upon your heart, [O Muhammad], by permission of Allah, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers.’

And when a messenger from Allah came to them confirming that which was with them, a party of those who had been given the Scripture threw the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know [what it contained].

And they say, ‘ None will enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian.’ That is [merely] their wishful thinking, Say, ‘ Produce your proof, if you should be truthful.’

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

He has sent down upon you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming what was before it. And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.

The patient, the true, the obedient, those who spend [in the way of Allah], and those who seek forgiveness before dawn.

And [recall, O People of the Scripture], when Allah took the covenant of the prophets, [saying], ‘ Whatever I give you of the Scripture and wisdom and then there comes to you a messenger confirming what is with you, you [must] believe in him and support him.’ [Allah] said, ‘ Have you acknowledged and taken upon that My commitment?’ They said, ‘ We have acknowledged it.’ He said, ‘ Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.’

All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel had made unlawful to himself before the Torah was revealed. Say, [O Muhammad], ‘ So bring the Torah and recite it, if you should be truthful.’

Those who said about their brothers while sitting [at home], ‘ If they had obeyed us, they would not have been killed.’ Say, ‘ Then prevent death from yourselves, if you should be truthful.’

[They are] those who said, ‘ Indeed, Allah has taken our promise not to believe any messenger until he brings us an offering which fire [from heaven] will consume.’ Say, ‘ There have already come to you messengers before me with clear proofs and [even] that of which you speak. So why did you kill them, if you should be truthful?’

That He may question the truthful about their truth. And He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment.

Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow [to the death], and among them is he who awaits [his chance]. And they did not alter [the terms of their commitment] by any alteration -

Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.

O you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.

O you who were given the Scripture, believe in what We have sent down [to Muhammad], confirming that which is with you, before We obliterate faces and turn them toward their backs or curse them as We cursed the sabbath-breakers. And ever is the decree of Allah accomplished.

And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger - those will be with the ones upon whom Allah has bestowed favor of the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions.

Allah - there is no deity except Him. He will surely assemble you for [account on] the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt. And who is more truthful than Allah in statement.

But the ones who believe and do righteous deeds - We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. [It is] the promise of Allah, [which is] truth, and who is more truthful than Allah in statement.

And those who have believed in Allah and His messengers - those are [in the ranks of] the supporters of truth and the martyrs, with their Lord. For them is their reward and their light. But those who have disbelieved and denied Our verses - those are the companions of Hellfire.

Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them.

For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful.

And those who accuse their wives [of adultery] and have no witnesses except themselves - then the witness of one of them [shall be] four testimonies [swearing] by Allah that indeed, he is of the truthful.

The believers are only the ones who have believed in Allah and His Messenger and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of Allah. It is those who are the truthful.

They consider it a favor to you that they have accepted Islam. Say, ‘ Do not consider your Islam a favor to me. Rather, Allah has conferred favor upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if you should be truthful.’

And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, ‘ O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.’ But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, ‘ This is obvious magic.’

Say, ‘ O you who are Jews, if you claim that you are allies of Allah, excluding the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful.’

The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was a supporter of truth. They both used to eat food. Look how We make clear to them the signs; then look how they are deluded.

Allah will say, ‘ This is the Day when the truthful will benefit from their truthfulness.’ For them are gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them, and they with Him. That is the great attainment.

May Allah pardon you, [O Muhammad]; why did you give them permission [to remain behind]? [You should not have] until it was evident to you who were truthful and you knew [who were] the liars.

O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true.
